Facebook lets users give "spare keys" to friends

Facebook began testing a tool called Trusted Friends. It lets a user specify between three and five pals on the social network (no more, no less) who can be counted on to pass along a special code if the user somehow gets locked out of his or her account.
It's essentially another way to regain access to your Facebook page if you forget your password. The option will show up on the "account settings" page for some of Facebook's 800 million users during the next few weeks, the company said in a statement. New alternative to "forgot password" option. Learn more!

Electricity; One Step at a Time

The recycled rubber "PaveGen" is the new material used in paving slabs that harvest kinetic energy from the impact of people stepping on them and instantly deliver tiny bursts of electricity to nearby appliances. The slabs can also store energy for up to three days in an on-board battery, according to its creator.
Although each step produces only enough electricity to keep an LED-powered street lamp lit for 30 seconds, Kemball-Cook says that the tiles are a real-world "crowdsourcing" application, harnessing small contributions from a large number of individuals.
This could literally pave the way of the future, as few investors are already looking into these new types of electricity producing pavements. The first time the paved slabs were used was in a mall, which would provide ample energy due to the large number of individuals transferring kinetic energy to the slabs. Read about a step into the future.

Apple's big iPhone disappointment

Apple on Tuesday unveiled the new iPhone 4S, the fifth update to its iconic smartphone. But many investors and analysts were disappointed that the company didn't display a more radically redesigned iPhone 5. The new iPhone will appear physically the same as the iPhone 4, but the guts are improved: it will feature a new, faster processor called the A5, which is currently used in the iPad 2. It will also include a better, 8-megapixel camera and an improved antenna.

My Weekend

This weekend was productive one. Although it was one of the more boring ones, I got a lot done. I had to turn in early on Friday night because I had SATS in the morning. Saturday morning I woke up early and took the four hour test. Almost immediately afterwards, I had to work for the rest of the day. Sunday was a more relaxed day as I only had work in the morning and was able to relax and watch football for the rest of the night.
